Music
My study of music has been a lifelong practice
I followed in my older brother’s footsteps when I began to study orchestral percussion the summer prior to my 6th grade year. Through various school bands I gained a foundational sense of rhythm and harmony. At the age of 16, I experimented with composing my own 4-mallet pieces on the vibraphone and marimba. Though it took me almost another 16 years to come back around to this love of composing music, the COVID-19 pandemic allowed me an opportunity to develop a new skill: sound design for rituals.
I am a sound artist.
I sing, compose, and and play a variety of instruments.
When I began exploring my voice through singing and songwriting, largely influenced by plant medicine ceremonies, I knew I found a deeper commitment to my passion as an artist and lover of personal expression. With my background in orchestral percussion and singing in church choir in my youth, the transformative years of my twenties, and my recent explorations in sound design in my 30’s I am proud of my musical journey thus far.
Personal transformation has been a huge part of my creative process.
As a survivor of domestic violence, an advocate for reproductive justice, and a gender non-conforming individual I am dedicated to liberating myself from the societal chains that held me back in my childhood, adolescence and early adulthood. Through my own process of inner healing and stepping into my roles as ritualist and doula I am fusing two of my greatest passions: healing and art.
i create music because it takes me to a place out of time. A place where freedom exists.
In the creation of ritual ambient music I aim to create meditative journeys that allow the listener to go inward and explore places inside themselves, out of time, and free from the binds that keep us small.
